‘Valentine’s’ long pointed buds open to velvety, semi-double flowers of rich scarlet that can be 3 or 4 inches across on a mature plant. The nearly thornless bush is slightly open. The foliage is very full and rich and is rarely affected by heat, humidity, insects, or disease. This is a rose grown for show and will attract considerable attention. ‘Valentine’ is one of our most popular red roses.

'Bliss' is another great rose bred by Kordes.  The double-cupped, fruity-scented blooms are a lovely creamy pink with an apricot center.  The nicely shaped shrub will be compact to four feet and has proved itself to be cold tolerant and disease resistant. This rose was one of the first roses to be involved in the promotional marketing of a consumer product, the Chrysler Imperial car. We can only hope those car owners enjoyed their Chrysler Imperial as much as we love ours! Lovely, long pointed buds open to globular flowers of dark velvety red. The 4-5 inch blooms contain a strong citrus scent .'Chrysler Imperial blooms are a must in any of our flower arrangements as we enjoy the striking color and the heavenly fragrance. The bush is nicely shaped with semi-glossy foliage.

'Doreen's Centennial' is seldom out of bloom. Named after a benefactor of the Herman Park Garden Restoration effort in Houston Texas, it serves as a perfect tribute to the improvements. Loosely cascading plants covered in pom pom-like flowers perform beautifully in informal mixed borders. This rose is ideally suited for containers as well.

Quietness' is an excellent specimen rose and reminds us of an upright version of the popular ‘Souvenir de la Malmaison’ rose. It produces full, soft pink, fragrant flowers well into the fall. The shrub is very cold hard and will reach a height of five feet. This is one of Griffith Buck’s last introductions.

Long-lived and healthy, 'Cecile Brunner' tolerates everything from poor soil to partial shade.

'Lasting Memories' is a rose straight from a romance novel, and leaves nothing to the imagination.  Its fragrant perfume (cherry and damask with a hint of citrus) and velvety pink petals create the sensation that is ideal for any secret garden but will love your garden bed as well.  This cold hardy, nearly thornless,  4 -5 foot  shrub has clean foliage requiring little care once planted. Collected by Dr. William C. Welch in Louisiana, "Maggie" has very full flowers that are large, of rich carmine rose that can darken to crimson in cool weather. They are freely produced on a vigorous, healthy bush that makes a nice hedge, specimen plant or even pillar rose. The true "rose" scent is even headier when the flowers are carried indoors. We admit to preferring this rose to the less vigorous Gruss an Teplitz, and thought it might be a hearty seedling of the rose, but several distinguished rosarians have suggested that our "Maggie" is possibly the old Bourbon, 'Eugene E. Marlitt'.

'Thomas Affleck' was bred at our nursery and named in honor of a notable 19th century nurseryman who had a nursery just a few miles from ours. The intensely cerise pink, semi-double blooms make a bold statement in the garden. It is a wonderful specimen for a mixed planting or large container and is useful near a walkway where its fragrance and thornless nature can be appreciated.
